upon further inspection boner and i discovered that the voltage on the tps is a constant 4.97V regardless of its position. i tried a different tps and it did the same thing so im thinking my ecu got damaged somehow. so i may be in the market for a pm6 eventually

i dont know about your car, but most tps sensors have three wires coming to them, a ground, a constant wire (usually at 5 volts), and a reference wire/meter wire that fluctuates with the butterfly, make sure you are testing the right one. if your tps sensor is reading a constant 5 volts, that would be wide open throttle wouldnt it? and your car would have trouble even idling, if it could even idle at all. Just double check and make sure you tested the right wire ( ithink you might be testing the hot wire). Just my 2 cents.

We tested all three thinking the some thing and for the idle it has a really jumpy one.Sleepy Civic DX;53556 wrote:i dont know about your car, but most tps sensors have three wires coming to them, a ground, a constant wire (usually at 5 volts), and a reference wire/meter wire that fluctuates with the butterfly, make sure you are testing the right one. if your tps sensor is reading a constant 5 volts, that would be wide open throttle wouldnt it? and your car would have trouble even idling, if it could even idle at all. You didn't cross the MAP and TPS plugs, did you? They will both plug into each other...
