your 'filter on throttlebody' mod is probably good for some power LOSS. you should put an actual intake on it.

This is hilarious....
All three cars will probably be in the 15.5x-17.0x range. I'd guess 75-85mph trap speeds.

haha thanks.. and the filter on the t/b is because the battery is in the way for a cold air intake.. and i bought the car w/o a filter even on the car.. so a filter is better than no filter lol.. how is the b16 tranny faster? everybody says that but i dont see how.. its quicker right? therefor you would shift more.. am i right? besides i like the ls it has a decently tall first gear for launches.. id like an even longer one though..

The tighter ratios in the VTAAAAAAAAAAAAK transmissions keep you in your *ahem* power band.
You can speculate and benchrace all you want, but my hatch was able to beat a lighter crx because he had an LS transmission and I had the B16 transmission. Same engine, he had the weight advantage, and I still win.

first gear is the same on b series transmissions. the shorter gears make a big difference like tmarsh said. my brothers eg hatch had a b18b with upgraded valvetrain and crower stage 2 cams, higher CR pistons with an ls tranny and he couldnt pull on my car (97 coupe, ls swap b16 tranny with basic bolt ons) until after i shifted into fifth gear, which would be after the 1/4 mile so i would have been faster hahals hatch;208497 wrote:haha thanks.. and the filter on the t/b is because the battery is in the way for a cold air intake.. and i bought the car w/o a filter even on the car.. so a filter is better than no filter lol.. how is the b16 tranny faster? everybody says that but i dont see how.. its quicker right? therefor you would shift more.. am i right? besides i like the ls it has a decently tall first gear for launches.. id like an even longer one though..

Shorter gears equate to better acceleration. It also helps keep you in your powerband, as TMarsh said. Both help you get to the finish line quicker.

Better solutions than a filter on t/b... with picture illustrations from two of my previous vehicles

make a (very) short ram.
OR...

get an intake tube that is made for the chassis
