IMO Carbed cars were done away with years ago for reasons. (Not just for emissions) I feel if you take the time; and build a injected car you will surpass you power expectations as long as you will deal with all the BS with getting it running / and extra costs.

i got a buddy named mike that races nothing but small block fords. every motor he deals with is carbed, hes even taken 86+ motors and pulled the top end off to run a carb. a year ago he bought a pos 78 fairmont and put a stock 85 mustang gt engine(205 hp) and t5 tran in it. stock 4 barrel, cluch, headers it ran low 13s. last winter he mated a two speed powerglide to it then flipped a set of headers upside down and welded a t4 flange to the y pipe. he still runs a carb, except hes tuned to run e85. with the holset turbo hisbest run to date is a 9.20 in the quarter, shredding the gears out of the powerglide.

the factory fuel injection is GARBAGE if you want over 300 hp.

holley 4 barrel ftw
