Cable modem

Post by SweetEBPSi »

Does anyone have a cable modem I could borrow for a couple of days. My internet keeps going in and out and before I call them, I want to be able to tell them that the problem is on their end. Last time I had an issue, they said that it could be my modem going out. I want to bypass that stupid answer.

Question one...Is the modem itself getting hot? If so stand it on the end or side or elevate it with as much air flow around it and if it continues to cut in and out then try finding a spare modem. We had this problem and that solved it.

Its not a heat issue. I've had this modem for years without any problems while being in the sun. Since it has started, the modem has been in the shade because the blinds are down and the air is on.

Hmm have you tried just plugging the computer directly to the modem? if you still have the problem then the modem is most likely the problem.

Yeah. Tried that. I think I'll see if I can get my neighbors modem. She isn't there during the weekdays.

That won't work. Krystin needs internet so you can't take it.

If your new modem doesnt work, it might be a problem in one of the splitters. I was having the same problem, internet wouldnt stay connected then finally wouldnt connect at all. Got a new modem, still wouldnt connect, had a tech come out and replace one of the splitters and worked again.

You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.

This could be as well the problem. Who is yoru cable provider? Charter? See if you can't have them bring out one of their test modems to see if that is the problem. Otherwise check all the splitters and if possible keep it down to one splitter between your incoming from outside and the modem.
