Pick up 2 different colors of primer.
After you get it smoothed down where you want it. Spray a light coat of the lighter primer, then a light full coat of the darker primer. Light coat, as in thin, but still full coverage. Now start wet sanding.
You should get a smooth color change, not a spotted color change. A spotted color change is basically going to look like orange peal down the road.

no offense but you should have done more research on howto properly paint.
one thing is a big no no is your painting it outside. there are paint booths for a reason. and yes you can easily make a paint booth in your garage. you know how much dust and dirt flys around in the air ? it all goes right into your paint youre laying down. but thats the least of your worries it looks like.

I am just painting this to get the technique down, not to make it pretty. I know shit flys around and bugs get in it but if I did it in the garage the fumes would be all throughout the house. I am also using the sun to help me get the angles and lighting to see the orange peal and other stuff. When I do paint the whole car I will have my "booth" setup outside.mike93hatch;54982 wrote:no offense but you should have done more research on howto properly paint.

Like I said, its my first try I am here to learn. Besides the dirt(and I guess not bugs) what else do I need to watch out for while painting outside?mike93hatch;55008 wrote:im not talking about bugs.. eh well i guess youll learn on your own.

a paint booth is dust free. there is always a ton of dust floating everywhere in the air inside and outside. you may not see it, but its there. and youll see it in the paint also.btlfedgolf;55009 wrote:Like I said, its my first try I am here to learn. a paint booth will also not allow the smell to exit the booth.
you can make a makeshift paintbooth in your garage. alot of people do it. search around on google on how to set something up. will make all the difference in the world on your paint jobs.
