RCOTW '57 Chevrolet "Black Widow"

Well, depending on how well this goes over with rick and the rest of you, this "Random Car of The Week" thread maybe become a regular. In it a special american car, a historic vehicle, or a rare import will be featured with some details about the car and some pics. Its just for fun and to expand your knowledge on some different types of cars. Our first one begins here, let us know if you think its cool or if im just wasting my time.

1957 Chevrolet 150 "Black Widow"

Just 2 years after Chevrolet released their very first overhead valve V8 engine, they made anotherhuge milestone, the very first fuel injection system. In 1957 the first "fuelie" was just a mechanical fuel injection system, but worked so well it became the first engine to make 1hp per cubic inch with its 283ci, 283hp V8.

The famous "Black Widow" was a 1957 Chevy sedan based off the bottom of the line model, the 150. The BW featured a stripped down interior with a roll bar behind the front seats and under the dash. It also had a larger fuel cell, truck brakes, heavy duty suspension with dual springs, and the famed fuel injected 283 small block. The package was originally made to run in NASCAR but was disqualified because it did not have any carburators.

The name Black Widow came because the car was only available in a black and white 2-tone and was also menacing, as it was one of the fastest factory made cars in its time. Production was siezed because of NASCAR, so no accurate production numbers are known. From what I have gathered there are less than 10 in the world and are now worth a shit ton of money.

note! all other fuel injected chevrolets in 1957 had the cross flags emblem on the front fender, the BW had it on the tailfin

here is another example of "Random Car of the Week" because I am bored lol
let me know what you think.

1969 Chevrolet Corvette ZL1

Many muscle car enthusiats have heard of the ZL1 package, but usually only when it is on one of 69 1969 Camaros. Very seldomly do you hear of the very rare Corvette ZL1

The numbers ZL1 on the vette is the option package for an all alluminum 427ci 12.5:1 compression 4bolt big block chevrolet engine, also known as the L88. Because of this very technologically advanced engine, the price of the ZL1 package was insane, so much in fact that chevrolet sold only 2 corvettes with this engine, one white and the other yellow.

Highly overlooked, this corvette was actually the fastest stock vette ever made, even though most people believed the fastest to be the 95 ZR1 up until today's Z06. With a novice driver and racing slicks, the ZL1 managed to run a 10:89 @ 130mph.

there is a speculation that a 3rd ZL1 was made in 69 though, a red one dubbed "the saturday night special" and was the only one equipped with an automatic transmission. Its best time was 10:60 @ 132mph before the engine was swapped for a LT2 454 for a Motor Trend test. Its whereabouts are still unknown...

note! this car sold for over $300,000 at that 1991 auction!
