Scratch at high rpms going into 4th and 5th.

Post by 2ksi »

I dont know what is wrong with my trans but it scratches going from 3rd to 4th at about 3-4k RPM's. When i have it in N and rev it to 3.5k RPM's and put it into 4th it doesnt scratch. I dont know anything about transmissions but i was told to test my syncros by double clutching but i dont think that proved anything for me. There are literally no miles on the car too. 35k miles. Any advice?

Sounds like you probably have a bad synchro spring right now. If it's not been doing it for long, it will probably be a fairly cheap fix. If you wait, you'll probably end up needing a 3-4 sleeve kit and a 4th gear.

same thing i was gonna say.

fix it now and it will be really cheap, if you wait it will be really expensive.

i can fix it for $80 + the spring.
