b16 trans to short for interstate driving??
To me, it got annoying after a while. I drove from my house to St Louis on I44 and I was ready to be out of the car when I got home. We were turning 5000+ almost the whole way there and back.

I can almost assure the engine has no problems with the revs. The B's love to rev. Personally, I think 3800-4500 is their "sweet spot, " and they're certainly engineered for the speeds.
But it's definitely a personal preference. I've installed several LS 5th gear sets for B16 tranny owners who got annoyed with the exhaust "hum" after a while.

Ive been wanting to use that the next time i get pulled over goin to school. its an honest excuse.N2HIFI;50311 wrote: actually i get about 32mpg driving 75mph at 4200 rpm.
chris
i drive 200miles a week to and from school, 100 to and from work, and another 150 or so around town(live in st. chuck, go to school at forest park, and work in old lake saint louis).
i do 65 to 85 for all of that sept around st chuck and i get about 30mpg avg. there is only 150rpm diffrence between 60 and 70. and 90 is about 4200. i drive alot on page to school thus the high speeds. but 40 is a mess and screws up the fuel consumption.
i drive this very regular and i have no problems to speak of.

we put GSR 5th gear sets in almost every b16 tranny we get into. Not only will it pull the RPMs down, it will also help you get better MPG

my rpms are around 4500 at 70, but its actually QUIETER at that rpm mostly due to the fact that i have a ctr crank pully that reaches a certain resonance at that rpm and all the rattles and vibrations kind of melt away, also im willing to turn the other cheek on higway driving when i remember that i have a little thing called lsd
