the block is kind of most of the motor. to do it properly though, youll need to pull the engine. take off the head and oil pan. remove the piston and rod and inspect the cyclinder walls, all of your bearings, oil pump, and head for damage from rod parts. if and only if there is no damage to anything, you can replace the rod. if there is damage to anything, they will need to be replaced and youll need to clean everything throughly to get all the metal shards out of everywhere.

or you replace the motor with a known good one and be on your way.

Depending if u have a vtec head, and are wanting to keep same motor u could pull the head, inspect it, and throw it on a new block or sell it.

Just replacing the block might be the most cost effective if you can put the motor together yourself. That's what I did when I spun bearings. Of course, like already mentioned in your case you need to check the head for damage.

k, im not saying that you dont know anything about cars nor am I saying that I know a lot... but by the way you asked, my advice to you would be to jst find an engine and replace it...if you're not really experienced on working on bottom ends this will save you a lot of headaches and possibly money in the long run.
