y8 are good if like to spin rod bearings. if your wanting to stay d series pick up a z6 and build it. all depends on what you want. if want to swap an ls in there and boost it do that
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

three questions that you need to answer first:

1) what is "fast"
2) whats your power goal?
3) how big is your wallet?

till these are answered, there is no answer to your question.

Like they say it's hard to replace displacement...so I'd think you'd be better off with the b18...the only downside would be b series parts can be a little more expensive unless you buy used or know somebody that can hook you up lol

positive displacement can replace more displacement.

Very true...but the OP was asking if the y8 boosted or the b18 boosted was better...so IMO he'd be happier with the b18

id think the other. my old turbo d setup with a stock y8 did about 160whp and the same on torque and took my car into the 13's. i dont know of a stock b series swap that can do that.

but then again, he hasnt stated what is "fast" and to him 13's may not be fast.
