Need suggestions my motor is going out

Okay so i'm driving to get on the highway when all of a sudden the car starts missing. It continousily misses while driving. I took it to the shop and they said my valves in cylinder 4 are not opening and theres no compression in that cylinder. They said labor alone is around 800, with parts maybe 1400 (that includes removing the head). Does anyone know a way around doing all this work? I don't really want to spend that much on this motor and if i sell the car i don't know if i will have enough to get a new one. Does anyone have any ideas? And also does anyone know where i can find a parts list to do a b16 swap in a 91 auto integra?

google can find a parts list for that swap. as for the valves, i would say do it yourself if you know how

There is a d16y8 on craigslist in st louis for $400 bucks says it runs perfect theres also a full ls swap on there for $650 says he has everything needed for a full swap if it were me i would find another longblock and swap it out myself instead of pay a shop $100 an hour to try and fix mine .02 werth good luck.

i would take the head off and see if there is damage to the pistons. if no damage to pistons, throw on a different head (can be had for $50 or sometimes cheaper since your screenname is da9teg im guessing we are talking about a ls motor cuase it was not stated what you have in your original post) with a new water pump and timing belt and then call it a day.

Yeah.... im retarded :dumb:scratch that i dont know why i was thinking you had a d16 but there is a ls longblock on craigslist if your motor is done.

yes it is a 91 ls. i may end up taking the head off this weekend. is it complicated to do? if my pistons are ok and my valve is truly stuck how can i get it unstuck and are there any special tools i may need besides a torque wrench?
