Sorry, but most V8's don't/barely gain 25 hp with a CAI and headers. One thing you are forgetting is your engine is no longer new. So, the HP rating that it has is not necessarily the HP your engine is putting out. The pimp ass straight pipe is actually probably hurting you.
It's going to be pretty hard to do any good power adding bolt on setup for 1k. $1,500-2,000 is more realistic. Nitrous will be the best bang for your buck with your budget.
Now, on a 1,500 budget, your options open up quite a bit (provided you do all the labor yourself)

You wont see much from any of those mods. They are very good supporting mods, but not going to get you to your goal alone. I honestly suggest a nitrous setup for the goals. Is there a reason you dont want to use nitrous?
you won't get what you want with the money you want to spend. period.
what you need to really ask yourself is, why do you need that particular amount of power? why are you seeking that particular number, which cannot be verified by any reasonable means?
go to a dyno, and take some baseline measurements. look at how your engine creates power, and figure out what part of that would you like to change. if you're just looking for a big number, you're wasting your own time.
To make the power level you are speaking of, here is what I think you'd need to do. NO, you won't be able to do this for 1k. No, this isn't hater tech but you have to have a realistic budget for the goals you wish to reach. Kind of like going to a Mercedes dealer and asking which new car you can buy that is fast for 20k. Not happening.
1. PR3/P30 pistons and new rings. (or other pistons that can get you to around 11.5-12.3:1 compression)
2. New OEM rod and main bearings + thrust washers
3. ARP rod bolts installed and big ends checked/resized
4. Skunk2 Tuner 2's or Pro 1 cams (or knock offs in similar grinds)
5. Matching springs for 4.
6. New valve stem seals
7. New head gasket
8. New valve cover gasket
9. New oil pan gasket
10. New oil pump
11. New oil pump pickup tube gasket.
12. New oil pump O ring
13. New camshaft seal
14. New water pump
15. New timing belt
16. New timing belt tensioner
17. Good aftermarket header with 2.5" collector (RMF Narrow replica, HyTech replica, etc)
18. Good exhaust, 2.5" WITH MUFFLER
19. Socketed ECU
20. Car tuned. Either street only or street/dyno (recommended) wideband used either way.
21. Good cold air. 3" tube diameter with good quality filter.
Other things to consider:
Possibly slightly larger injectors
Possibly larger fuel pump
You should be good with the stock stuff but sometimes you DO need to go to 310's and a Walbro 190.
AS I said, you can't even buy the parts for the above setup for your goal price. The above setup would be RELIABLE as it's not just some thrown together trash.

ok, thanks for the help.
I don't like nitrous...at all and its cheap power i think. i want something more permanant and reliable.
So, how much power would you think higher compression pistons would give me? Compare that to a port and polish? My friend had a port n polish done on his car and we felt a huuuuuge difference. THats all i'm looking for right now. I just wanna feel a difference in the power and have some more fun tooling around to work and school.
So........cams vs. pistons vs. port n polish
which one would you choose? i'll eventually be doing a lot that RyanA has suggested, just not now. Thanks again
For example bolting on an intake manifold with stock intake tubing and TB might give you 1-2 untuned HP over stock. But upbrade all 3 at once and you might get 7-10 HP untuned.
A simple port and polish wont do much without tte mods to back it up. Also keep in mind butt dynos like ot lie.
Now on to the nitrous, I am assuming you are trying to say nitrous is cheating? Care to elaborate as to why?

your argument against nitrous doesn't make any sense
ur funny. 1. i dont wanna be buying bottles of nitrous all the time which will get expensive. 2. its not permenant like cams or pistons 3. i dont believe its reliable......convince me otherwise tho cause if u think its a good solution for easy power then maybe i will get it. i just dont wanna be running something into my engine thats gonna hurt it at all. This is my DD
