Homemade turbo setup....

What are some of the things over looked when people build and create turbo setups? Any tips and or advice would be appriecaited. This isn't for my car, its an 87' Acoord LX-i.

Bracing of the downpipe, possibly the bracing of a turbo. Wastegate placement on the manifold.

Are you talking about piecing a setup together or pretty much making it?

The most one i have seen A LOT that people overlook is the size of the turbo. They think bigger is better, but if your motor doesn't flow enough CFM your not spooling that damn turbo until 2nd gear 3-5k. I have seen it over and over and over. I have seen people get turbos that are too small for their motor. There's just a bit more to sizing a turbo then just buying one.

Well it will be a junkyard setup but it has to be a custom manifold, charge piping etc. But one of my big things are how would you control fuel and that stuff on an 87 OBD0 car?

-turbo edit http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewforum.php?f=60

or

- uberdata http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uberdata

i think are obd0

but as far as what parts are over looked .. tuning, fuel and compressor maps

but if you stick to a turbo like a 14b or t25/28 it should fit your application fine

You can just use a missing link and fmu. Just run a high flow fuel pump. It should be good for a while.

whatever you do DON't listen to this type of advice .. the FMU is cave man fuel management, and a missing link seriously.
