well i took my knocking d16 to a machine shop and they said i spun #4 main bearing which scored the crank and the block. Said the block could be fixed but probably isn't worth the cost. what to do? opinions?

i'm guessing where the main bearing sit in the block is scored. i'll take a look at it tomorrow when i go pick up my remaining 3 good rods/pistons...

looks like i'm looking for a junkyard with an engine then.

I have an A6 block but it needs to be decked/milled. The last owner drove the car around with a bad HG for over two months a warped the block a little. Its dirt cheap if you want. BTW, sorry I haven't gotten back with you about the alternator. I still have it if you need it, but I'm guessing not.
