As stupid as it might sound I have never changed my coolant (personally). I'm changing my hoses, one's leaky, and I'm just looking for any tips or tricks. It's a 97 integra GS by the way.
Thanks Nate.

we used to do this with older cars, but ya mix up a gallon of water with some baking soda, and pour it in your system and run the car at idle for like 10-15 minutes. then drain, flush it with clean hot water, and if ya look in the drain pan youll see all the buildup from inside your radiator and engine. it basically cleans the water system like seafoam cleans your fuel system. but the last car i did that on was myy 90 rx7.. not sure if its safe for hondas or not

I believe it's called a chemical flush. You can buy the stuff at a parts store, I think. From what I heard, it could help very well with rust and scale, altough it'll eat away at your water pump, so some people really recommend it using it when changing your water pump. :dunno:

pull plug on radiator
let drain
stick hose in top filler
run water through for a few min
then close plug
and fill back up
(after you replace your hoses)
then bleed.(if ya have a bleeder)(if not then just start car for a min with cap off)

hondas have bleeders on the system... on b-series I believe it is on the back of the motor right where the radiatior hose connects... if not, then it's on the front where the hose connects. should be pretty easy to spot.
This post comes with a guarantee: I guarantee that I don't care what you think about it.

It should be right on top of the water neck.Spork;86194 wrote:hondas have bleeders on the system... on b-series I believe it is on the back of the motor right where the radiatior hose connects... if not, then it's on the front where the hose connects. should be pretty easy to spot.
