Finally no thanks to the weather...

Post by tscastello »

Sooo... Yeah my activity has been slim the past week. I have been moving out of my old apartment and into my new one literally across the street still in Georgetown Apartments lol. Old one is too small for me the whole car parts in the living room was enough to make me want to move.
So yeah,
no thanks to the weather here in the Saint Louis area delaying the attachment of my new rims.. Yet without further waiting.
The Rims are on..
And the verdict is!!
I love them its that simple.

The quality of the wheels are outstanding. The attention to detail is def true JDM.

These are Skunk2 springs. Yes they do rub but only on huge bumps usually only on highways so not that often. I do think rolling your fenders is a good idea for this setup especially with the 225 width, not sure if the 215 would have been much better. Until my Skunk2 struts and shocks come in I'm using factory shocks and struts so that may fix the rubbing issues also.

The rubbing factor is not that bad, its not enough to cut up your tires but extensive use I would def consider rolling your fenders.

I usually have my any of my tire stuff done down the street here at Autotire and they were able to max out the factory camber settings for me. If I'm correct I believe he said he could manage to get -.25 out of the front and -2 out of the back. If I could bring in the front camber even more I would probably get away without having to do any fender rolling at all.

I like them. I knew they'd look good on there. It does need coilovers set a little lower then where you're at now, a small wheel spacer all the way around, and an HFP, Mugen or CTR lip kit/conversion and it would be sick. The rest of the car is just too plain for those wheels. Congrats on the new place.

Looks hot. Saw those rims on a Kinetic Blue Pearl TL-S on Acurazine and loved them, but it looks hotter on the Si.

Maybe check out http://www.kplayground.ca/ for some ideas for a lip/other stuff on the Si.

On a separate note, you should look into a retrofit on your headlights. Not saying this for better lighting at night, but also another way to help make the front end look better and flow with the rims. Can do one of two things:
1. Get the chrome painted black and the shroud painted blue to match your paint
2. Get the chrome painted blue to match your paint, the shroud painted black, and the cutoff shield painted blue on the side facing the lens. At the right angle, you'll see blue in through the projector lens for a neat effect.

If you do quads, will help with that look a bit more. Just a thought. If you want to go ahead with it, I can point you towards a retrofitter here in STL that's going to do my Accord retro who can help hook you up with the right projectors, ballasts, bulbs, etc. for what you want or what's in your budget.

I actually already purchased some ANZO projector headlights. Until I install them I'm not sure how I feel about them but they are black backing but now that I have black wheels im sure they will look fine. I have trouble seeing at night and when I had my 350Z the Projector headlights made me feel like I had new eye's so im very excited about it, plus the HID kit that I have waiting to put on will make it even better.

awww, those are beeeeauuuuutiful.. looked at them a while back for my Dyno Blue FA5. I am going to go with Skunk2 Pro S-II Coilovers myself and a 17x9 +35 with a 245 (maybe 255) tire. not going super low at all, since I plan on stuffing a ton of rubber under there. PM me if you haven't already ordered those Skunk2 coilovers.. I may be able to save you some $.

Also, if you haven't already looked into it closely, I HIGHLY recommend the FlashPro. I installed mine with the 'stock tuned' canned program and it's a big difference.

Ah. Well, keep your stock headlights around just in case. If I remember right, most aftermarket projector headlights are just halogen projectors, or if they're really low quality, fog projectors. I know I've heard some bad reviews on some other forums about aftermarket headlights, but there are a few that get some good ones.

At least with a retrofit, you can make sure quality stuff is going into it to your tastes. Especially if there's a certain OEM projector you like the performance of out there. For me, I like the S2000's, and going to go with that. Some people like a budget retro with a PnP retro using Mini Morimoto projectors that pretty much thread through the bulb opening in the stock reflectors. Comes as a H1 and a D2S, with the H1 as the cheaper of the two. Definitely a budget friendly kit at $110-120 for projectors alone. Full kit including bulbs, ballasts, shrouds, projectors, relay harnesses, and some other small bits of wiring can start at $270-295. I know there's better results with the H1, but the D2S is still a new design and at the same time, lets you use OEM D2S bulbs like Philips or Osram. I know there's a big thing going on since Osram released their Xenarc CBIs which are rated around 5000K but produce more lumens than factory 4300K at 3200 lumens, but costs close to $200 USD to get them (and imported).

Again, something to think about. If you feel like the ANZO aren't cutting it (or no where near the 350Z's projectors) or if you want to do more to the looks of the headlights themselves, then feel free to get in touch with Greg at greg@theforumretrofitters.com and if you want, can take a look through their website at http://theforumretrofitters.com/. They have more Accords done since most of them drive Accords, but they can and do work on Civics. There's one Civic in the customer ride's section of the gallery that isn't in the Civic's specific folder. Again, just to give you an idea for something down the road if you ever feel like it.
