Refinish faded CF hood

Clear coat will seal in the fog and add show off thoes lovely pinholes. Gel coat after a sand down at least has a chance of getting the fog off.

thats why you go to a reputable shop that has dealt with carbon before. it takes a while to fill in the pinholes from the clearcoat, but in the end, the clear will outlast a gelcoat.:PDT_002:

I took mine to F&S because I didn't feel like messing with it anymore, and they did an amazing job. Took awhile too, and it was even a Vis Racing hood.
Ribs. I had ribs for lunch, that's why I'm doing this.

CF hood restor

I work in a composite shop that does full carbon bodys all day. The the gel coat is a type of suface sealer and it also protects the actual carbon woven material and resin from being harmed. It can be sanded down and brought back to a glossy finish. If you are going back to a cloudy finish after time chances are that you gel coat is weak and is letting moisture build below the surface witch can cause your cloudyness. After you sand you can go ahead and get it cleared or if you know someone that sprays gel coat i would go with that it is thicker and my weather durable.
