radio install help for 99 civic si!!

Post by 99civicsi/stchuck »

So I got my stock stereo out and got my new pioneer premier headunit in and now my keyless entry doesnt work.

How do I get my keyless entry to work with an aftermarket headunit??

you need a t harness to get it to work correctly, plus depending on which radio you have .. you might need to remove part of the radio and keep it in the car

hmmm. I was thinking that was phased out in the 99-00 models. I guess my memory is not as good as it used to be.

It was phased out in the 99-00. The keyless entry isn't tied into the radio and dome light like it was with the 96-98. I had no problem buying a regular wiring harness from Best Buy and putting in an after market head unit. Are you sure you have a real Si or is a 96-98 Civic that was converted to look like a 99-00 Civic Si?

96-98 had the keyless module built into the radio. 99-00 they moved it to under the dash on the driver side instead. 96-98, the factory security module (Alpine) was mounted in the recess on the top of the radio. 99-00, they put it on a bracket under the driver side of the dash.

Glad you got it figured out. Crazy how some things happen at the same time and make you think it's something else...
