Sub Amp Trouble

Post by InspiredCg3 »

hey guys i got a question, my amp seems to not be getting anymore power, and when it comes to car audio im pretty knowledgable so im stumped... i try making sure my power cord didnt have a crimp in it, replace the power wire fuse, both amp fuses, i re grounded it in 2 diff locations that were legit, i even re plugged everything back in and still no power is getting to my amp, i put a screw driver to the power wire where it connects to the amp and to the metal on the amp and it sparks so obviously that is a good current, so i dunno why it wont come on, maybe my amp crapped out?? any ideas anyone????

Try putting a jumper wire from the remote wire hookup on the amp to the power cable. If it comes on then you just have an issue with the remote wire from the head unit.

Have you actually used a Volt/ohm meter to check the power and remote for 12Vs? Do that first, and if it does, you have already moved the ground around, chances are the amp is shot. OR try seeing if it will power up with no speakers, and no RCAs attached to see if its possibly going into protect. I guess ill also ask, Does it have a protect light on it?

That happened to my old amp, it came on but wouldn't put any power out. Your amp is probably shot. What kind of amp is it and how old?

If you can just swing by and i'll bench test it for you. If it's broken we can fix it in house or send it out for you if parts are required.
