I tried telling him you don't need to run it on 30# all the time, and that a boost controller is his friend but he didn't really seem like my idea.:hammer:
I daily drove my stock block ls at 17psi for like 3 years on a homemade tune (one of those years I was going to gateway almost every tuesday).

This is a huge misconception for a lot of "stock block" cars.

Well, maybe for just bolt-ons but what else would expect from a 4banger? I bet soem can be made pretty quick n/a, easily faster than my slow ass. Turbo is always the better answer though.

This is true, and why I am looking for the perfect one for a DD.

I tried telling him he didn't need to push much boost to be competitive with 90% of daily driven stuff around here, just seemed dead set on those cams.

The rolls were about what I expected. The dig, well, he just dumped the clutch with some rpm off the line. I told him afterwards he needs to slip it a bit to lessen the spin, but he's still a good amount of hp down, even with the weigh difference. Tough to make up for the torque difference too. LT1s hit peak torque at like 2300 and carry it out pretty well.

Like I said, we have a rematch coming with an SVT Contour, should be a good race, dig or roll...when the driver/owner gets back from Vegas.

Not my LT1. My car is the one in sig. 99 Z28 (LS1) 6 speed, lid, ls6 intake, longtubes, true duals, 3.73 gears, and just got it tuned tonight. My 12.83 was in shit air (1100 DA), no tune or LS6 intake, and only my 5th ever pass. I run on the stock clutch, and stock master cylinder which are really hurting from my 4k rpm launches. Also, I'm on 245 street tires.

I am going back to the track next tuesday, after the LSX shootout is over so the track will be sticky and the DA will be around -1000, so I am hoping for 12.4x if I hook. Anything 12.5x I'll be happy with, 12.4x would make me ecstatic, 12.3x and I will flip shit and buy everyone a drink or something.
