94 accord speedo and odo not working still...

94' accord 5speed lx no abs-

the speedometer quit working, it doesnt read mileage or speed but rather bounces between 15 and 20mph.

here is what ive done so far

- smacked the dash and kicked the bumper
- changed the VSS which resulted in it working at random times
- cruise control is not working
- i bought a new cluster to check it but i havent done it yet

any ideas? i am hoping i didnt get a bad new vss from autozone

most likely your vss. my 91 was doing the same thing-speedo/odo not working. snagged a vss from the junkyard and threw it in and no more problems.

As for autozone, I wouldn't buy fuses from that place. Everything electrical I've ever bought from them has failed...double check your vss....

check the plug going into the vss i bet the middle pin is coroded

what he said. i sounds like a bad connection. pull the cluster and make sure nothing is loose
