Oh yeah - fresh paint

Had my buddy QD to follow me to drop the beast off @ Pro Import Services and he snapped some pics. to discuss w/ Adam Malley (http://mallenalley.com/home.html) (6 time SCCA national champ in the same EB chassis) on the direction to take this guy. This is how it looked after I cleaned it up.
(remember, when I found it it had NO wheels, no brakes, and was sitting in mud up to the bottom of the doors. I had to wait for the ground to dry out in order to dig it up)

ACQUIRED 2 weeks after getting it tagged and insured. Auxillary fuel and engine temp gaugues, as well as a tach. This setup adds the tach (previously non-existant) to the main dash, left of the speedo. Currently, the left gauge in my car is an integrated engine temp/fuel level gauge.
Fairly rare, and hard to get in working condition.

This is what it will look like installed: (my interior is MUCH nicer then this photo already though).

Hmmm... wonder what this is... more rareness? All i need is matching shift-knob (on the way from New Zealand) to complete all the OEM goodness for the interior. The rest will be aftermarket:

Okay - I stopped by my buddies shop (Superstar Customs). It was a slow day, so I decided to whip out my orbital and "finish" the oxidation removal.

and

That was just the initial job. I then hand-washed the car, and then headed back up there and re-did the entire car again w/ more discretion.
After one more once-over w/ rubbing compound, I washed, then polished the car. Then a day later I finished up w/ a wax. All that just to have it sanded off for flat black paint from ASLA. I ordered all new rubber from Scotts Old Rubber.
Now - on to some other news.
While I was doing that, Bucky decided to take off my wheels and spray them w/ Alsa (http://www.alsacorp.com) gunmetal wheel paint. Here is a quick before/after:

That is my spare tire (left unpainted) next to one of the "new" ones. After the paint, I stopped by a local tire shop to have them balanced and have the weights put on the inside of the wheels this time.
He also decided to polish the Honda center cap to a high gloss as well:

Here are a few more pics:

All in all I am happy w/ the wheels. They started out like this:

They are 70s Shelby Cobra wheels in 4x120. Purists are upset that I modified such a rare wheel --- and those purists can bite my ass w/ your tongue out --- I don't try to keep up w/ the Joneses, I build what I want to build - at my pace and how I see it in my mind. This is when I dropped them off for trueing, powdercoating at Wheel Wizard:

Hmmmm --- wonder what these are? Oh -- I know... looks like some 185/60-13 Sumitomo HTR 200.

And what's this? Looks like the guys at Wheel Wizard took this:

and then turned them into:

The pics look glossy b/c of the flash - but they are actually flat-black powder coat.
As far as tires, I am gonna run 175s instead of 185s in front once I burn them up. This way it will tuck better when I toss on my modified EF suspension. Also, I measured the inside of the cone (area where center cap connects) and I am gonna have Wheel Wizard cut that down, and weld a simple dome-topped cap - (I had to mount the wheels to see how much area to cut b/c of the hub) there as I am not a fan of the center cap. I also found the 1 company on the planet that makes Mag-Style (sheath) lugs in a 1.25 and in BLACK!!!! So they are on order as well. Then I will have the wheels re-powder-coated after the custom cap is welded on and smoothed. This time, I will also have the spokes smoothed a bit b4 the powder-coat.
