Help a New guy out.

Post by turbotyla »

Alright guys i am new to hondas/acuras in general i am a miata guy.

But i just recently got a 1990 integra with a b16a1 jdm swap. The car runs and drives awesome BUT here are my issues.

there is no vtec And the fuel cuts a 6500 rpm. So i am thinking the car has the wrong ecu. I cannot find any numbers on the ecu.

Everything that i am reading is saying the i need to buy a pr3 ecu which is pricey from where i have looked. Or i can obd1 boomslang and get a obd1 pr3 with a base map and the car will run better.

Bare with me guys i realize this is a noob question but as i have said this whole honda thing is new to me. I grew up in a garage building small blocks and then i got into miatas. So all the tuning i know is with a wideband and jets or megasquirt.

well i got this car for a fun daily driver while i swap an engine into the miata. So if you guys dont mind throw me a few bones here and help a noob out. Also if it is a simple fix can you guys send me in the right direction to getting this car running like it should. i dont want it to be a race car. But i would like vtec and the rev limiter to work correctly.

thanks guys. Also ill throw up a few pictures of my miata just because pictures make threads better.

Welcome. The B16A1 swap is not JDM, it's from the European market.

If there is no longer a label on the ECU case, take the top cover off and look for the label on connector. Use this picture as a reference. The label is in the top left corner on the green connector.
