Eat lots of lean/high protein foods such as fish, chicken, veggies etc. Stay away from high sugar and carbs and like me, don't "drink" your calories. Its calories you can easily avoid. Stay away from diet drinks. They contain Aspartame, which makes you gain/hold weight. You need 20-30 minute cardio sessions daily (walk, jog, swim, bike, etc) and portion your meals. When you eat, leave alittle food on your plate after each meal so you don't get that "full" feeling. Eat 6 small meals a day because that keeps your metabolism high. By eating 6 small meals a day your body wont go into "starvation mode" that means if you starve yourself and barely eat anything, when you do eat, your body will store unwanted fats because it knows its not getting the amount of nutrients it needs. When you don't get enough nutrients you body will do whatever it takes to get what it needs and can start eating away muscle. I've been into bodybuilding for several years and can hopefully help anyone with any questions.

Like Edison said about the power drinks, avoid them as a "enjoyable beverage" as they do have a lot of sugars. They are made for high intensity activities that take alot out of your body and refuel the electrolytes your body needs for whatever activity you're doing such as marathons or basketball etc. Drinking them while loafing on the couch will do no good for you. I usually drink them at the gym when I'm sweating my balls off and need something more than just water
yeah i eat lots of chicken my problem is mainly eating veggies and fish cause i hate fish. my other main problem is motivation, like when i was in the army i always had someone to push me now that i'm a civilian it's hard.

I wish you guys lived closer I'm a personal trainer at my gym. It sucks when you just aren't feeling it that day and motivation levels are low, but usually I watch a good youtube video and boost my motivation levels.

Also, IMO never call it a "diet" To diet means something temporary, or to reach for a specific goal. You work out for 6 months, get the body you always wanted and quit working out, or slack off. Next thing you know, you get discouraged because you start gaining weight and you go back to the gym, get back where you want to be then slack again. You have to think of it as a lifestyle. My fiance does this all the time. She trains really hard for a half marathon, running 50 miles a week, eating perfect, exercising perfect etc then after her half marathon she goes back to normal then months later she "trains" all over again for the next race. Why work so hard for a goal then let it go?? What I strive for is a healthy lifestyle and everything else is bonus

Another thing she does and it annoys the crap out of me is she always says "I wish I had your metabolism" I HATE when she says that! I dont train for a specific goal, I just keep with the same routine day after day and gain constantly. I never have to worry about bodyfat or endurance levels because I have it in my mind to gain, not maintain.

Here are a few before and after pics of me throughout the last few years. I started bodybuilding in 2007. After my grandma called me a lollipop (because my head was bigger than my body) I said enough is enough.

This is me in March 2007, right before I started lifting. I weighed about 120lbs

This is me in March of 2010. Weighing about 155lbs

Here's the most recent pic I have right now but this is me in November 2011. 170lbs

I don't really have a "ultimate goal" I just keep working out everyday, gaining what I gain.

oh wow i have him book marked lol, i mean honestly i love to workout and get sweaty and sore i thrive on it ya know it's i hate doing it alone and i hate going to the gym i'd much rather get a few bodies and just go to some calisthenics and do it with as little stress on my body but getting the maximum results from it cause i mean i did the gym for a while didn't achieve anything i wanted like i did with just push ups situps and etc. i've also tried p90x but it makes me feel pretty stupid and i'd rather just like i said before get some buddies and just go.

I mainly workout by myself and I agree with you, ide rather have someone else to workout with because the thing I hate the most is not being able to get that last rep that you could get with a spotter.

Go buy a gym bag, a nice pair of shoes just for the gym, and some shorts.

It might sound kind of silly but buying the stuff and packing my gym everyday before I go to work helps me get motivated. Idk if you're willing to take supplements but if you are go to you're local store and talk to them. A lot of them help with diets and work outs I recommend going to peak physique if it's close to you. I know the owner and they are a lot different then most other super stores. They don't just try to sell you shit they actually want you to make gains.

The first two weeks are the hardest. Youll be really sore for days but after the first two weeks going becomes a habit and you'll start to like the soreness of it. Another thing that helps keep me motivated is setting goals and actually writing them down and keeping track of my progress and seeing how I've changed. I've lost 3 pants sizes and am getting stronger and stronger. Getting to the last hole on a belt and adding weight to what you're lifting is a great feeling and you'll want more.
gudg racing you're never gonna catch me!!
