BODMAS is Brackets-Orders-Division-Multiplication-Addition-Subtraction

(9+3)48/2 = (12)48/2 = (12)24 = 288

If the answer was 2 the equation would look like this.
48/(2(9 + 3))
In BODMAS and PLEMDAS multiplication and division are of the same level of importance. Same as addition subtraction they are just acted upon from left to right. The / however implies it's a fraction not just normal division so the denominator is 2(9+3). Which is 24 which makes the fraction 48 over 24 which equals 2

yep and if you take the equation from left to right you will get 288. The 2 is NOT in parenthesis so therefor it can not go first.

Like I stated before if the equation was

48/(2(9+3)) Then it would equal 2, but the 2 is not included in the parenthesis so after the (9+3) you must go from left to right.

I think it really all comes down to what you were taught in school. In Calc 3 I was taught the L2R over the PLEMDAS.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps

There we go. That right there just hit it on the nose. Exactly what I left out when i made my last message.

There is no going left to right when the whole 2(9+3) is the denominator. I see it that way at least

This is actually a serious debate by some major mathematicians, so there is no way to tell who is correct and who is wrong at this point :)

try PEMDAS: Parenthesis, exponents, multiplecation, division, addition, and subtraction. the answer comes to 288. but it also depends on if it is a fraction, or a division sign. either answer would be right but if you use PEMDAS the answer will be 288. if in order of opperations, it will be 2.
