right. my cylinders are 20 over right now. i installed JE 9:1s less than 10k miles ago while i was boosted. RS, YCP and oem all make a 81.5 piston. i agree that honda makes great parts, but if you can get an oem replica that has great reviews for a better price, i don't see why you wouldn't consider it (and i thought you said you were running RS?). i'm not trying to cheap out, just taking the same route you must have when you went w/ RS. i'm not looking to break any hp marks, just a good piston to get me going again. thats why i made this thread, wanted to see if any body had experiences with any of these. i wouldn't say using a cheaper product that is proven is "cheaping out" either, just thrifty :wink2:Phate;166067 wrote:Honda makes pistons in the regular size for your motor, and .25 overbore. Honda makes awesome parts, so what I was saying is, unless youre going to use a bore bigger than honda makes, I would use their pistons. You cant cheap out on engine parts... with that type of attitude you should just stop while your ahead.

So you are saying that, if you are going to go with a larger then stock piston, it is OK to cheap out and get RS Machine pistons, and if you are staying with a stock bore to go with OEM pistons? Your post really made no sense.Phate;166067 wrote:Honda makes pistons in the regular size for your motor, and .25 overbore. Chris, RS machine has a proven record so I am sure they will be fine for your motor.

Lol I just said it like 4 times. Honda doesnt make the bore I need, so I HAD to go aftermarket. Im not saying RS Machine pistons are cheaping out, just the whole trying to get good parts for cheap is what im talking about. Honda doesnt make a 81.50 piston. They make 81, then 81.25. But what are your goals? What head are you using?DC_T;166072 wrote:right. my cylinders are 20 over right now. i installed JE 9:1s less than 10k miles ago while i was boosted. yeah, i kind of already had my mind set on them. waaaaayyyy too many good recomendations and dyno proven to not consider them.SikofFalln;166073 wrote:So you are saying that, if you are going to go with a larger then stock piston, it is OK to cheap out and get RS Machine pistons, and if you are staying with a stock bore to go with OEM pistons? haha, sorry man, your posts are just really confusing. if you had to go aftermarket i guess you could have gone forged but you stayed w/ RS, and said that you were happy w/ them but i guess don't recommend them?Phate;166074 wrote:Lol I just said it like 4 times. you are right on the .25 not .50, my bad. goals, nothing big. i'm not looking for high hp out of this, just a strong running motor. i guess something close to 200 hp would be nice. w/ my motor i think i should be able to get that.
