ycp vs rs machines vs oem pistons?
looking for some high compression pistons for my lsvtec. I was looking mostly at rs machines, just because they have a lot of good feedback on HT. then i was put on to YCP which seems to be pretty popular w/ D series guys. both make an itr and ctr replica piston and i think rs makes a p30 also. just curious if anybody has had any experience with either ycp or rs machines, or even just oem ones. and, anybody know of a good reputable place to order any of these from?

rc machine is the way to go man. the feedback i have seen on honda tech with people building b20s is awesome for the money. a lot of people posting good numbers using these pistons

yeah, thats kind of what i've seen too. just seeing if anybody has had any experience w/ any of them and where they have bought them from. i've seen a few threads about how rs machines takes forever to get thier products out and i don't feel like dealing with that.civicex442;166051 wrote:rc machine is the way to go man. the feedback i have seen on honda tech with people building b20s is awesome for the money. a lot of people posting good numbers using these pistons

Me and dale both use RS Machine pistons in our engines. I have their pr3 style piston, they do not make a p30 piston. The compression difference isnt noticeable. As far as taking a long time to get their product out, I got mine on ebay, and had them overnighted. Im very pleased with the pistons I have, and I'm sure Dale will say the same.
Ninja Edit: Unless your doing a larger bore than honda makes, there really isnt a reason to use other than OEM pistons, imo.

so you recommend RS? just a little confused by your edit. only reason i didn't want to go oem was the price tag, when you can get a replica for about 1/2. and RS in particular seems to have great reviews. i guess ebay might be the way to go. thanks for the reply.Phate;166061 wrote:Me and dale both use RS Machine pistons in our engines. Honda makes pistons in the regular size for your motor, and .25 overbore. I use a bore that is larger than that, so I had to go aftermarket for pistons. Honda makes awesome parts, so what I was saying is, unless youre going to use a bore bigger than honda makes, I would use their pistons. You cant cheap out on engine parts... with that type of attitude you should just stop while your ahead.DC_T;166066 wrote:so you recommend RS? just a little confused by your edit. only reason i didn't want to go oem was the price tag, when you can get a replica for about 1/2. and RS in particular seems to have great reviews. i guess ebay might be the way to go. thanks for the reply.
