giving "handouts" to SMALL business=employing of more workers
giving "handouts" to people who contribute nothing to this society=shittyiest of all. if you are not smart enough to know how to make a living, why should we trust you to spend someone else's? if you are not smart enough to realize you cant afford a house, and you buy it, why should we blame someone else?
NUF SAID.

We happen to live in a country that gives more hand outs to businesses than to people in the "projects" or poor people. In fact, I've heard on several occasions that we have a corporate welfare government.
FALSE. i do totally disagree with the bailout but this isnt something that happens often. welfare costs taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars a year. part of the reason for the financial crisis is the amount of money needed to keep welfare programs going. public housing, social security, medicaid and medicare, food stamps, TANF....the list goes on and on. not to mention the drain on our economy from illegal immigrants! hospitals on the border are going bankrupt left and right.
example: a senior citizen couple that makes less than 100k a year pays a combined total of $200 per month for Medicare. a senior citizen couple that makes $100,001 pays almost $1000 per month.
example: as a social worker, most of my clients are on disability. they receive around $850/month and do not pay income taxes. their healthcare is funded by taxpayers. THEY RECEIVED A STIMULUS CHECK (some actually got two at $500 each) AND TAX CREDITS ($750)! how the hell does that make sense? i'm paying their income, their housing, their bills, healthcare, etc and they are still making money! they don't pay any taxes yet they get money back! because they are on disability, they have special programs that allow for housing with rent $100, Ameren charges them $20/mo (even in the summer) and similiar with Laclede Gas and ATT gives them an $8/mo phone package.
when you give corporations "handouts" and/or tax breaks, in the long run it helps consumers aka middle class. you help the oil companies, they help us. you help businesses, they have more money to pay workers and lower prices on their products. you raise their taxes, and they have to start cutting corners.
i'm not against the welfare program by any means. there are people in this country that legitmately need it. i work with those people everyday. however, there is a larger number of people that take advantage of the system. unfortunately i see that everyday too. they receive disability checks, claim they can't work, have kids because they are "meal tickets" and they receive more money. when you're in the system long enuf you learn how to work it. they get side jobs to pull in cash but don't have a checking or savings account. they buy everything in cash so the govt can't see they have any assets. i drive into the projects everyday. some of them are nicer than my house and in the streets are caddys, mercedes, bmws, etc. they dress better than i do and spend money like its nobody's business. i'm sorry, but i dont agree that we should be giving them MORE money.
old enough to know, too young to care.
