Initially I think this is a bad idea. I could be wrong but I do not see vette fans liking this. A small, high revving, turbo motor is not what American muscle fans want. Not to mention it's going to be hard to build a more impressive vehicle than the c6 z06. Those cars are absolutely nuts. Unless they want to take the vette in a completely different direction.

It's interesting, but like everyone said American muscle heads are gonna be pissed! I just sent this article to a few of friends who drive vettes so we'll see how they feel

Not a fan. Fiancees dad has an 07 Z06 with a ligenfelter 660 build. 9.4s at 144. All motor. Cool idea, but not for a vette.

They already have, it's the ZR1.

there's too many rumors floating around about the C7 right now, but the only official thing I've heard is that it's gonna be a 5.5L v8 that's a version of the one they're currently using in the c6R Lemans series cars right now. there's also talk of there being a couple of different motor options available instead of just the one standard motor so people can have something a little more to their liking. lastly, there's always the talk of it going to a mid-engine setup with each new model that comes out and it's yet to happen. I don't like the idea of the only motor being the small displacement turbo one though, it just doesn't fit the image that the car has always had.

Chevy needs to put that motor in a cobalt-sized car and make it RWD.
Now that would be a fun ride.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening though. The rumor of a mid engine always comes about every time they launch a new Vette.

They had something like that already that didn't sell very well, the Pontiac Solstice GXP and the Saturn Sky Redline.

Again, I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening. They've confirmed a new 5.5L v8 but not this smaller turbo motor, that's all just speculation.
