If I dont pass my safety inspection....

Post by getteg »

Do I have to wait 30 days to go somewhere else or does it matter?

I went to Firestone and they failed me for a torn axle boot, shot busings on my rear camber kit, a missing bolt on the rear caliper, and for not having my front break lines attached to the shocks.

I fixed the axel boot, replaced the bolt that was missing, and the new caber kit bushings will be here on Monday. However I am running the Koni Yellows and there is nowhere to attach the break lines to the shock body so I can not fix that without riggin something up.

I would like to get it reinspected this next weekend, but am not sure if I have to wait the 30 days or not, so any insight would be great.

Thanks
Brian

You don't have to wait, just pay the fee again. It's only free to reinspect if you go back to the same place.

If you take it back to the same place, they will reinspect it for free. But if you take it somewhere else you will have to pay them to do the inspection, also if you don't know, they log your inspection so everyplace will know where it was inspected and why it was failed. But no you do not have to wait any amount of time.

If grease from the torn boot is making contact with the friction surface of the brake pads, rotors, linings or drums, then it fails MSI.

Yeah I know they will reinspect it for free within 30 days, but they will prob fail it again. Also maybe they were just pointing out the boot was torn, Im not sure but he showed it to me while he was pointing out what it failed for.

Yeah they were zip tied and they said that doesnt cut it. I may try and go back after I replace the bushings and see if they overlook the break lines before I go somewhere else and pay the 36 bucks again.
