Post by datguy »

My plates are out in April and i need to get them renewed soon and has me thinking about the dreaded emissions/safety inspection. My question is does anyone know of a shop that will not fuck me over that is in the st.charles/st.louis area? my car is perfectly fine cat still there and no issues what so ever I just know how these bullshit shops work. Thanks in advance

If you knew how a bullshit shop worked then you would know shops have no control in safety and emissions. The state is strict on all the standards and if the shop fucks it up theyll lose their inspector permit. So you must be going to some shady shops!!!

I suggest going to a shop that doesn't do repairs that way they're not failing u on something just to get more money outta u. There's a shop at Cave Springs and 70 called Speedemissions that doesn't do repairs and they also take walk-ins so no need for an appointment. I've used them before and I was in and out within 20 minutes.

I've had good luck with Claude's in Maplewood. It's right next to the QT on Big Bend.

They aren't shady, but it seems that they might let certain things slide that others might call you on. Nothing egregious though.

yeah maybe, what i meant by that statement is that it seems like when I take my car to some of these "legit shops" they always seem to find the smallest little thing to fail me such as "a exhaust leak that we can tack weld for you real quick for a $100" something of that nature and than I take it somewhere else to get it double checked and the guys laugh and say "man i cant believe they failed you for that!" ......
been there, done that, fuck that, and fuck them...
thanks for leads though guys!
