So I did my timing belt and water pump over the weekend on my GSR since the water pump was leaking. Once I remeoved the water pump I counted the teeth and it only had 19 teeth when it should of had 22. I know it worked because they used a LS timing belt as well, but I just found it wierd.
I know the previous owner had all the maintenance done by the book so Im sure the shop that did it just ordered the wrong or maybe the cheaper parts since they would work just fine.
Im just wondering if anyone else has ever come across something like this before?

the shop that did the water pump on my moms trailblazer broke 3 out of the 5 bolts that held it on. then tryed to drill out the bolts drilled off center ruined the front timing cover made my parents buy and pay them to install a new front cover, only to break bolts off in the new cover again 3 out of five, they siliconed the heads of the other 3 broken bolts on to make it look like there was nothing wrong. needless to say it leaked, i had to do all the work over again got lucky and got all the broken bolts out (one had to be drilled and retapped). put on a new water pump. now it has problems with over heating, cause they put so much of some type of stop leak in the cooling system thats clogged up the radiator.
moral of the story, dont trust shops, and dont trust people when they say everything was done by the book.

When saying by the book I was reffering to the fact that he had everything done at the milage it was supposed to be done in the owners manual, but I get what you are saying. There are very few things I will go to a shop for, and for those things I go to the same shop my family has used as long as I can remember and they are great.
