Bike MS - bike to create a world free of MS
An unforgettable ride. An unbeatable destination. Bike to create a world free of MS.

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. That's why I registered for the Bike MS Express Scripts Gateway Getaway 2010, and why I'm asking you to support my fund raising efforts with a tax-deductible donation. I will be riding a total of 200 miles over a course of 2 days. I am riding in honor of Barbara Werthmuller, Michelle Ludwig, and Janelle Skaggs they are very nice people and have to deal with Multiple Sclerosis every day.

The National MS Society is dedicated to moving towards a world free of MS but they can't do it without our help. It's faster and easier than ever to support this cause that's so important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message. If you prefer, you can send your contribution to the address listed below. Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do. P.S. If you would like more information about the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, how proceeds from the Bke MS: Express Scripts Gateway Getaway Ride 2010 are used, or the other ways you can join the movement, please visit nationalmssociety.org.

The donations are due October 15th
I will also accept cash donations, although its easier to do it online because that way you already have a receipt for your taxes...

BUMP, will post some pics when I upload them to my picasa web album, only have a few.
Here's what went down at Bike MS almost 2 weeks ago:
Got to the campsite somewhat late Friday night because had to get some stuff last minute. Friday night storm flooded my tent, and I got only about 3 hours of sleep. It was fucking cold in the morning in the wet tent. And I couldn't find my water bottle for the bike. Finally I got one from one of my teammates to borrow. I crashed 5 miles into the ride because the mud and grass in my cleat caused it to get stuck. I don't think I was properly hydrated because of the clusterfuck the night before and in the morning, and I started cramping right before lunch stop at mile 50. I only made it 60 miles Saturday and decided to call it a day and try again on Sunday. So a really cute masseuse gave me a massage, took a nice shower, grabbed a few beers at the free beer garden, and dried my tent and contents in the sun. I went to bed at 8 :-)
Sunday went much better. I was a little sore from the day before but felt fine after I stretched and got breakfast. Drank a bottle of protein and a bottle of FRS before we even left for the day, and had OJ too, so I was staying properly fueled from the beginning. I was riding in a pair with a guy Eric from BikeWorks. At mile 30 we met up with these 2 girls from Ohio State cycling team. One of them was on a full-carbon bike with tri-bars and the other was on an old steel FUJI and she was riding flat-footed. Have to say that girls that are into cycling have really nice figure, and it's a pleasure riding in a peloton with girls :-) our pack grew to about 12 people and we averaged 18mph before lunch at mile marker 70. By that time my nads were on fire since I didn't have any chamois creame with me, so we lost the girls and pretty much the rest of the group and I rode the last 33 mostly solo.
THE END.
