the red light cameras have a flash, i dont think they are infra red, thats is pretty cool though.
if you think about it, red light cameras are up high, so if you put thin louvers over the plate perpendicular and horizontal to the plates surface you could read it at ground level looking straight at it, but when you look at it from at an angle from up high, the louvers would block the plate making it illegible.
like this, from the side, think of the brackets as the license plate and the underscores as the louvers:
_

[ _ <see it from this direction...

...but when you look down on it all you see is the tops of the louvers.

Infrared effects all digital cams. Some time take your digi cam point it at your remote. Look at the screen and hit a button on your remote. You will see the infrared through the LCD.stolle;233123 wrote:the red light cameras have a flash, i dont think they are infra red, thats is pretty cool though.

yeah tryed it with my phone digi still cam and digi camcorder, i could indeed see the led light up but not blinding like in the video. i would assume that some cameras are more sensitive than others and some leds brighter than others. what about covering the license plate with a piece of clear acrylic and back lighting it with infra red leds, the light would reflect off the acrylic and back off the license plate possibly masking the entire plate with a cover of infra red light, i think testing is the next step, lol...Waffles;233124 wrote:Infrared effects all digital cams. I might be willing to take the $60 hit if it fails. The question is how long do I wait until i call the test good.stolle;233128 wrote:yeah tryed it with my phone digi still cam and digi camcorder, i could indeed see the led light up but not blinding like in the video. i would assume that some cameras are more sensitive than others and some leds brighter than others. what about covering the license plate with a piece of clear acrylic and back lighting it with infra red leds, the light would reflect off the acrylic and back off the license plate possibly masking the entire plate with a cover of infra red light, i think testing is the next step, lol...

So is the ticket I got for sliding through a red light trying to stop in time for the cam. Other than that I only got one for not stopping before making a right turn on red(honest mistake)Capt'n Obvious;233143 wrote:running red lights is retarded
