Not much of an audiophile, but my kids have accumulated a nice collection of classic rock ... old man stuff like Bob Seeger, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, AC/DC etc
Going to use their files and load onto a shuffle ... I've googled but don't seem to find exactly what I need ... is there a device / adapter that will let me both play through my car's sound system AND keep the thing charged too?
Thx

iPod Question
the only way i can see that is if you have a tape player, you can play the ipod through that while charging the ipod through the cig lighter adapter (if they have a charger for it. don't see why they wouldn't though). other than that, i'm outta ideas lol.

iPod Question
depending on what type of cd player you have some have a i-pod jack on the front where you can just plug the i-pod into, the cord should be easy to find, i'm not sure exactly what it is called though. I found this link which seemed kinda helpful

well depending on if you have an audio in jack in your car or not, the make a neat little dock. you plug the dock to your cig lighter, and then theres an audio out cable from the dock. Also, and just as easy. Use the car charger and get an RF adapter. It just shoots the audio out like a tiny radio station and then you change your car station to what ever channel is open

Good thought for a regular iPod, but getting the shuffle (for working out with - don't wanna wear some extra holder thingie) ... shuffle only has the one receptor for both the charger or audio outputMr. Integra;181468 wrote:the only way i can see that is if you have a tape player, you can play the ipod through that while charging the ipod through the cig lighter adapter (if they have a charger for it. don't see why they wouldn't though). other than that, i'm outta ideas lol.

iPod Question
Problem is, a shuffle uses a headphone jack for everything. So getting a IPOD adapter for your factory radio isnt an option.
Personally, I would try and find a non shuffle ipod, and then things become simple since it will have the long flat style plug that Ipods are known for, not the headphone adapter.
Depending on your car, it might have some type of AUX input on the back. If so, they probably make a AUX to RCA adapter, then you can just use a RCA to headphone adapter and plug your shuffle in that way. But you would still need a car charger with a Headphone in and output on it. To be able to put it in series with your cable, since the shuffle only has one output.
You posted again while I was typing. lol

Wait, I think I misunderstood ... not an iPod jack on my car stereo, just a regular audio jack? I do have that! Do you remember the name / link of the device you're thinking of?delslo;181471 wrote:well depending on if you have an audio in jack in your car or not, the make a neat little dock. you plug the dock to your cig lighter, and then theres an audio out cable from the dock. If you have a normal Headphone AUX jack, then you should be able to plug your shuffle directly into that. Just finding a inline charger would be the trick.

that's the only possible thing i can think of. i'm just not sure if it will be able to charge it while playing it. this is one of the gizmos Apple made that makes no sense what-so-ever since you can shuffle a regular i pod and they come in slimmer styles now than they did when they first came out, kind of like gameboy lol.
