I'm very happy to see you are beginning to post and get active here again. I've always admired your accomplishments and knowledge. However....

You seem to not have much faith in the stl honda scene. And after seeing your thread you bumped from 2 years ago, I understand. You've been pushing this point that there are no fast hondas in stl. Point heard, taken, received and understood.

So how do we turn this around? I remember once upon a time, you were involved with a tight knit group of honda enthusiasts. All great running, and great looking cars. And from what I recall, you were the brains/go-to guy for that group. Perhaps you can begin offering up a bit of this knowledge and know how to the people here. I know I personally would love to pick your brain about a few things.

My plea/challenge to you is this. Stop complaining about the situation. Start helping it. If people want to go fast, they will recieive your advice and it will happen.

This isn't meant to trash you or anything. So I really hope you don't take it that way because I really do greatly respect you and all the stuff you have done over the years. I'm just saying if you are tired of seeing things going one way, then do something about it.

How do we turn this around....

Go to the track and at the least show progress. I went almost every tuesday a couple years back....and would probably still go if I didn't work nights.

I am guessing our group was c9? Believe it or not, our biggest common interest in that group IMO (for the most part), was making our cars quicker. Almost all of the hondas in it were turbo, or were very close to making that reality. I wish the group rode it out a little longer, but life happens, and I can understand that.

Stop caring about your lips, jdm part list, $2000 wheels, etc. Throw that out the window. If you are going to showcase your car at a 1/4 mile track, do it on the track. I am not about getting my car into a booth....I would rather be on the track. If people want to see under the hood of my car.....just ask me. There is nothing special....no secrets, and I don't mind showing that.

I am nothing special. I am somebody who combines common sense with a lot of research on anything I do. In 2000 I was nervous as shit to change my water pump on my purple sohc civic. Tuning my car for the first time freaked me out......it is all trial and error...what works and what doesn't. You have to be willing to step out on your edge and try a few things on your own....know how to troubleshoot.

I've offered to help with welding on here.....I believe that thread got zero replies. Any time I could answer a tech question here...I tried. And with any help / advice.....I am willing to help....but you damn well better be willing to learn. And that includes spending time researching all you can.

So.....there is my rant. I know this whole site is not about the quarter mile. So I try and keep my slow stl honda comments in the street/strip forum. There is a place for nice, clean cars...but in my opinion the track is not one of them (unless it is somewhat quick).

Dude really helped me out in a pinch too. Needed a trans for my civic a couple years back and NOBODY had one, not even junk yards. Got ahold of him and he sold me one of the three or so he had layin around for cheap. Stick around and help us slow guys...we need it.

Like you said though, every body isn't all about 1/4 mile performance. I really don't have much of a desire to take my car to the track everyweek and beat it up there. I'm not really building my car for that. And I know many others are the same way.

Even though I'm more of a performance oreiented guy I don't have a problem with JDM lips, $2k wheels, etc. To each his own I say. I think you should ignore those guys if thats their thing. Speed obviously isn't a priority for them.

As far as the booth at Midnight Madness goes. Well I'll never race there. I don't have the paitence. I'll volunteer to be in the booth becasue it (was) cheaper, and you get a good parking space. I go to midnight madness to spectate and hang out with people I know and haven't seen in a while. There are not booths on Tuesdays, thats where I'd want to race.

I say all of this just to say, there are still people who are about performance more so than bling. Which I'm sure you recognize. However, none of us are going to be breaking any speed records anytime soon.

Very well said, and personally I am torn between speed and the looks. Sure I want my car to go fast but I want it to look good doing it, and i think a lot of other people feel the same.

im with jerren on this one. i mean i dont want a rust bucket but i wont be dropping a huge amount $$$$ on wheels and jdm parts. i may do simple stuff like a front and rear lip but that will more than likely be it for the looks department. just waiting to get my turbo parts all together and put on so i can get out of the 15's haha
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...
