In case anyone had not heard, Honda is going to try and sell their F1 team. If they can't find a buyer, they will apparently fold. This will be a major blow to F1. The private Honda team, Super Aguri aka Super Friends, already folded a couple of years ago. It will be a sad day when Honda isn't on the starting grid. :sad5:

rumor and speculation at this point, but yes, it will be very sad to see Honda go. I was bummed enough when my Super Best Friends couldn't continue any longer. Just goes to show the world economy is hurting everything and everywhere.

Honda is going to quit F1
Um, how is this news, and/or surprising?
Super Aguri finished in dead last place for the 2008 season. Even though they tied the mighty Force India in points, with 0, they lose even more for participating in a whopping 4 races this season. At least Team Second-Hand-Ferrari made it to most, if not all, of the Races.
Honda itself only scored points in 4 races this season, and came in third to last place, just ahead of the above mentioned failures.
Maybe when Bernie kicks the bucket, and Max stops getting spanked by Nazis, the whole organization will level out and it will stop being a spend-the-most-money competition. Until then, I want to see Ferrari blow their wad, and spend Kimi and Lewis to a 1-2 Driver's Championship victory.

well the article that I read said it had more to do with sales being down by like 23% in Japan and the shitty economy all over the world.
UPDATE: Honda has officially pulled out of Formula One.

It kinda goes both ways there.
Hmmm...we're not making as money as we used to, how can we cut back on spending? I know, let's stop spending millions in the most expensive motorsport competition that we fail at!

In the whole scheme of things, it is not surprising. Honda spends a boatload of cash and doesn't have a whole lot to show for it in terms of points.
However, I think that this just illustrates how bad the worldwide economy really is. Major car companies look at racing as a way to increase brand awareness/prestige, not as a sound financial investment.

Nik used to work for the Carpenter's Union and they had their own F1 car. Apparently they made a boatload of money off of sponsorship and part of that money went towards benefits packages. Although it doesn't seem like a sound investment, if one is smart about it, they can still come out ahead.FenianFit;152084 wrote:In the whole scheme of things, it is not surprising.
