Theres a first for everything

Post by 99PreludeSh »

SO cruising along with the cruise control set to 62mph because im a grandma like that. Puttin along in the 2nd to right lane on 270 right before exiting 70. There was a cop 2 lanes over and I knew something was up since he wouldnt pass me. Well sure enough he scoots over behind me and throws the cherries on...FUDGE is all I said.

He walks up to my car and asks..."do you know your plates are expired?" I look at him with a confused look and said "wait what? I thought they were good until 2008?" When I know dang well they are long expired lol. He said "No mam they expired" DAMNIT...strike one. Well he was very nice about it and said "let me see your license and check it then I'll let ya go this time"

In the mean time another cop pulls up...im like I am screwed! So about 10 minutes later he walks up to my car and says "Would you mind stepping out of your car, looks like you have a suspended license." WHATTTTTTT!!?!?!?!?! damnit...strike 2

So there policy in Maryland Heights is if you have a suspended license its an automatic arrest...crap STRIKE 3. So the lady pats me down and throws me in handcuffs in the front..not gonna lie I kind of liked it lol. So they explain to me what it was for and then it clicks...damn lawyer didnt take care of a ticket ALL the way out in Scott City MO, which is like 3 hours away lol. I for some reason had a feeling something like that happened when they were taking so long with my license.

She puts me in the back of her car, and those cars are pretty damn cozy, enough leg room too I WAS SHOCKED! They take me in get all the paper work done, in the meantime I call Tom and hes like "WTF are you talking about!" I explain and he hops out of bed to come get me.

After everything was said and done I got away with having NO bail because I was so cooperative with them, when usually the bail is $300. Tom got there about 3:42ish and I go on my merry way with a driving while suspended license and expired plates.

Sucks but these people who delt with me were so NICE that it wasnt bad at all. I might even call in and instead of complaining thank them for being so polite with me.

SO REMEMBER: If you ever do get arrested just cooperate it pays off seriously!

Best part of the story...

I drive a HONDA VTEC according to them!!

I never did understand why SO MUCH OF MISSOURI drives w/ expired plates. I mean, it's cheap as hell to have plates in this state too...just effin' do it!

In my home city it's an instant arrest for just expired plates. Also instant arrest for suspended license.

That's cool that you didn't have to pay bail or that your car wasn't impounded, but what kind of fine is a driving on a suspended license?
Ribs. I had ribs for lunch, that's why I'm doing this.

I'll +1 on the moral of the story. I was getting ready to pull in the driveway a couple weeks ago when a cop pulled up right behind me and hit the cherries. So I'm sitting there, 1 foot from my driveway with the garage door going up, and the first question I'm asked is "So where are you headed?" I did my best to be polite. The officer was having a really hard time grasping that I was trying to go home, because my car had been registered in Springfield, MO. As it turns out, my wonderful school had decided not to forward any of my mail, after 4 years, $80k+ and all my contact info (which they had used to have foreign students call to hit me up for money a month after graduation). To wrap it up, he let me go after deciding it wasn't really my fault (honestly, who stares at the expiration stickers on their license plates?)

I've been pulled over four or five times, in a junky old Porsche as well as my little Civic, and the most I've been issued was a compliance citation. Lights on, car off, yes/no sir/ma'am. It's all you can do.
