I Was Just Wondering?

i know google is my friend, but im not that curious so i don't feel like wondering around,but

does any happen to know were honda got there (or came up with) motor codes. ya know D,B,H,F,K. why do they call them that? just a thought on my mind, if anyone happens to know.

Interesting question..I figured they just went down the alphabet but then realized to my knowledge there is no E, G, and I.

last i checked, F comes before K in the alphabet..

The numbers in the codes stand for the amount of dispacement a motor has for example: B16 16 stands for 1.6 liter. just put a decimal point in between the numbers and you got it. This is also common with many other import enigine codes. RB26DETT, 2.6; KA24, 2.4; etc. etc.

ya i knew what the numbers were is just wondering about the letters.
