Okay, over the past week or so my car has been overheating. A lot. As in all the way to the H. So on Sunday i took my car too Chris' house and flushed out my radiator. The antifreeze was basically pitch black and was real nasty. I added new antifreeze. So i take it for a test drive around the block, come back overheats again. Corey looks at it and tries to see if there was a bubble in the hose that could be clogging up the fluid. We get the bubble out and its still overheating. Corey asks if i had replaced the thermostat. i say no. So yesterday at work i buy a new thermostat, take the car back to chris' put it in. he takes it for a test drive, everythings fine...or so we thought. I leave to go home and about halfway home, yep, you guessed it. It overheats on me. I'm driving thinking okay i changed out the antifreeze and i changed out the thermomstat. what else could it be??? i thought of head gasket because there's nothing else i can really think of that was cause the car to overheat while i'm driving. I got on T-I earlier today and looked up some symptoms on blown head gaskets. Low and behold, i was right as it stated that if your thermostat fails, it will stay locked in the open position and a blown head gasket will make the engine overheat while driving. After reading this, i go to Acura and ask for a head gasket for an Integra. The man comes back and says he has to special order it. I ask him how long it will take. he says it should be in by fri if not by mon. This really sucks because this is delaying me from my build. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Well try changing out the thermostat temp sensor, I understand it is kicking the fan on but I noticed that one night it didn't kick on till it was on H. When the stock setting is at like 160 degrees and you was well over, if you have a blown head gasket it would be smoking and there would be bubbles in the oil and white shit and if it isn't doing either I wouldn't change that gasket just yet until you change out that temp sensor. Borrow joshes off his b-series to see if it changes anything, cause I changed my coolant and thermostat on my mazda and all it was keeping the car from working properly was the sensor and once I replaced it everything was good to go.

Integra's don't need that sensor to regulate heat...thermostat is mechanical, and the fans hardly ever kick on, at least for a C1 engnie (mine). Driving around in this cool weather is more than enough to keep the coolant down if everything is working as it should.
Allex are you throwing a code at all?
Check your oil level see if it's low too.

We already replaced the thermostat, and the car is still overheating... time for the motor build up!JonDubya;24374 wrote:Integra's don't need that sensor to regulate heat...thermostat is mechanical, and the fans hardly ever kick on, at least for a C1 engnie (mine). that sensor is there for a reason and my mazda was overheating when we had that huge ice storm a few years back all I did was change the thermostate and fluch and fill and it did nothing so i changed that sensor and everything was square on it after that.

Fair enough, but is a maza an integra? no, so they have the possibility of functioning differently. Plus, I'm guessing your mazda was newer than Allex's teg.90CivicEx;24398 wrote:that sensor is there for a reason and my mazda was overheating when we had that huge ice storm a few years back all I did was change the thermostate and fluch and fill and it did nothing so i changed that sensor and everything was square on it after that.

no i'm not throwing a code, at all. as for my oil, i just checked it and there was nothing on the dipstick but i just got it changed like 1,000 miles ago. My oil lamp isn't even coming except for when it first starts which is normal anways. me, josh, corey, chris, and rob all checked it on sunday and it showed that there was plenty on the dipstick and now it is showing nothing at all. my car is really starting to piss me off.JonDubya;24374 wrote:Integra's don't need that sensor to regulate heat...thermostat is mechanical, and the fans hardly ever kick on, at least for a C1 engnie (mine).
