Wheel and Tire setup.. Help with this new platform.

Post by tscastello »

Hey guys I'm about to buy a set of killer rims I just dont know what ones yet haha. Probably something cheap that are insanely heavy because I have a habbit of going through wheels every year cause I change my mind on styles.

I want to do a Flush fitment - Slight neg camber - Wide wheel
you know the kind of setup that has been really popular overseas for well since i was a baby im sure but is recently starting to gain great popularity here in the US.

Anyways my question is this:
I have a 2007 Si Sedan and I'm interested in doing this with this car and was curious on some ideas on sizes. I'm looking for offset, wheel size and width, and tire size. Take into account I have the Skunk2 drop springs not coils.
the spring specs are: F2.25 - R2.00"
Also I dont really want to roll my fenders because I dont really wanna buy the fender roller from eastwood at $275 if I'm only going to use it on this car.

Here is an idea of what I find a very attractive setup but also doesn't look like it will be going through the tires every 90 days. Hopefully I can get this damn picture to attach....

I have no idea who's car this is but both pictures were pulled off 8thcivic.com website.

So yeah thats pretty much the look im going for wheels are a little bigger then I would want they almost look like 19s at most I only want 18" but I'm thinking with the springs I'm only going to be able to go for another set of 17's

If you want wheel fitment like that, you'll need a nice set of coilovers as well as rolled and/or pulled fenders.

Yeah, they go hand in hand with fitment. Maybe post a pic of how low your car is now with the springs.

Damn I figured that much.. Its pretty obvious if you visualize spring compression a non rolled fender on that setup would = one Fed up tire. I have a feeling i will be going with a normal set of wheels right now and one day probably be going with a set of them when i deside to upgrade my suspension. I'm just more worried about performance mods then visual mods right now.
Still would be nice to know a good setup for this application though. I'm just new to the whole flush fitment agressive stance setup. Gotta learn how all them offsets work now :\

Well I'll have the springs installed this weekend going to try to get it done Sunday morning hopefully if there isn't too much of an overcast sky I can get some decent pics taken.

on another note how do people figure out what they are going to do on wheel/tire setups like what I want to go for? I mean no way people just take a guess off of what other people are doing...
But if your doing coilovers I suppose you can always just adjust the height to make it work. With springs your kinda just in a fixed height and with no adjustment you have to have the perfect size...

Almost just seems easier to just to do a "normal" upgrade lol

You started off on the right foot. Continue trolling 8thCivic and other various forums and see what setups others have. Find one that you like and go from there picking a wheel, tire and suspension setup that matches. Here are a few links to help you. I understand they're not 8th Gen related, but it's still the same concept and will help you tremendously.
