I seem to be joining any Honda related forum to ask this question. I'm looking around at different ecu/tuning software packages that would best match my car. I have a '94 Civic with an obd1 B16a motor. The car came with a p72 ecu equipped with the Hondata s200, and is currently running a pretty shoddy basemap. There seems to be a loose connection somewhere because, every once and awhile, I'll get CELs and a rev limiter at 6000rpm. Currently the engine is completely stock, from airbox to exhaust. My long term goals aren't astronomical, and mainly focus on the addition of some bolt-on mods and a decent tune. I'm looking for a cost efficient and effective (they contradict, I know) way of getting the most out of my car. Here are the options I've come up with...
1) Keep the p72, diagnose/fix s200, find a reputable tuner, burn new chip.
2) Find a jdm p30, augment with a vafc/vafcII
3) Same as option 2, but with a p28
4) Skunk2/Spoon programmed p28/30
5) p28 w/ Hondata s300
Any recommendations or alternate suggestions?

i would use a stock ecu too, but if you really must get it tuned use what you have and get it working right theres a lot more "tuners" that will tune hondata and you already have it so... or use a p28 and uberdata or crome...

edit: ^^^what he said
use/learn uberdata or basic crome, both are free. You will need at least a chip burner and possibly a wideband.

Gaaah, I've been changing my mind almost every hour. I'm looking for simple, and easily adjustable. That's what makes the s200 so unappealing right now, and to DIY, I'm looking at spending just about what it would cost for the s300. It's looking like p28 + boomslang harness + vafc/II/safcII/whatever right now...but you never know.

Socketed P28 + Neptune FTW. If you've got the cash for it, upgrade to the Neptune RTP board.
