transmission blew wtf???

So as I was driving and about to make a right turn onto a street I come to a Stop to yield to traffic. Then as I was making the turn driving in first gear about 50ft my transmission makes this rattling/clunking noise and I shifted to second to see if i could drive it. all it does is make a grinding noise and goes no where. and no I wasn't getting on it or flooring it when this happened. I am leaking fluid from the rear of the transmission from what I can see. I just got it towed home and its dark so I don't really want to look until tomorrow morning. Before this all happened. I could hear my throw out bearing making noises the week before. Could this have played a role on why my transmission killed itself?
the clutch seemed new when i bought this car. And I don't understand why they didn't change the throw out bearing.

The car is a 1994 honda accord DX 4 door 5 speed. with 240k miles on it

Why dont you spend 5 min and go look instead of that same 5 min making a thread and hours of time waiting for a response.

If its from the rear most likely the differential broke/ exploded/ overheated and seized up and broke. Most likely the diff was the weak point/cause. But This is me.

either way I will have to swap transmission tomorrow. i'll take pics of damage

ive got tons of accord tranny parts to rebuild it.. including cases.

most likely it was low or out of fluid... it leaked out over time and driving it with no oil for a while heats things up and they will finally give from all the stress. or the diff broke...just one of those things..

thanks mike for the input. I'll check it out once I get the transmission out. it leaked fluid right after it blew.

They are known to have the crosspin slide out of the differential. That usually busts a hole in the case. The spider gears are no longer held in place so power can no longer go to the tire.

Yes, I do agree that low fluid level was probably the cause.
