bb6 fuel pump runs constantly with fuse???

Post by overboost7845 »

i have a 98 sh prelude and I was trying to diagnose my misfire condition so i removed the fuse for the fuel pump under the dash then i noticed the fuel pump was cycling with the key, without the fuse in place. so then i noticed when i replaced the fuse it caused the fuel pump to run constantly whenever the key is on, so i just left the fuse out. What could really cause this other than the ecu?? i looked around and the fuel pump did not appear to be hot wired or tampered with at all.

your kind of talking in circles so its a little confuseing. so what im getting is no matter weather there is a fuse in there or not the fuel pump is on? that is odd. my best advice would be to invest in a good dmm and start the testing at the main relay and work your way from there
turbo lag psh? boost is only a down shift away

NO when the FUSE is INSTALLED pump runs CONSTANTLY. when FUSE is REMOVED pump cycles on just like it should. its odd but i've come to the conclusion the only way this could happen is if the ecu has gone bad and is providing constant ground for the fuel pump enabling it to power up without the fuse in place.

What your saying still makes no sense. The fuse is on the power side of the circuit so even if you did have constant ground the pump wouldn't run at all.

As said before, grab a dmm and start testing. See if you can find where the power is coming from. Also pull the relay and put the fuse in to see what happens.
