It's probably your cam timing.

timing
Remove the tension off the belt and pull the belt off the cam gear. Set the number one piston at TDC. When it's properly set the single white mark on the crank pulley will line up with the pointer on the lower timing cover. Then align the camshaft using the TDC marks on the cam gear. Align the gear so that 'UP' is on top. On each side of the gear there are two TDC marks. Align these marks with the cylinder head upper surface (Note: This is only for the 1.5 liter engine. 1.6 liter engines are set differently). Re-install the timing belt ensuring that the camshaft and crankshaft still line up with the TDC marks. To properly adjust the tension on the timing belt, rotate crankshaft counterclockwise 3-teeth on camshaft pulley, then loosen the tensioner adjustment bolt to create tension on timing belt. Re-tighten the adjustment bolt. Check to make sure that all TDC marks are still properly aligned.gcef89;279034 wrote:so do i take the belt off put the crank to tdc and then just move the timing belt one tooth forward or backwards?
