sensor help? :(

Post by dustinbmxking »

Hello guys and gals

first off i wanna say i'm new to this site,

well i picked me up a 92 civ 4dr (eg9?) and it had a blown motor (d15b7)

so me and my buddy did another d15b7 swap, picked it up from pick in pull i believe. replaced the water pump, belts. fuel filter. and of course hooked everything back up. well i did notice part of the harness is ripped off and missing (crappy pics i know) and i cant find out if its a sensor or what. all i know is it gets spark and fuel, but its crank, no start. could it be from the missing harness peice? of did we do something wrong.

Thanks.

that plugs in underneath the distributor, look and you will see a sensor screwed into the head with a single pin coming off it. there was a two wire plug that should have plugged in under there also.

yeah thats what i was thinking, but i couldn't find where it would be around or under the dizzy. but if thats what it is then you think thats why it won't roll over?

Make sure everything is visually installed properly (i.e. Nothing left unplugged, all grounds secured and properly installed). Next, check your timing to be sure that it is set properly. After that, check for DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). If at this point it still doesn't start, do a compression test to ensure that the engine you got is actually good. Compression should be between 184-135 psi with no more then a 28 psi variation between cylinders.

That is just for your gauge cluster's coolant needle (the single pin rubber boot connector).

You don't need it at all for the car to run.

No engine lights at Key On Engine Off?

Firing order is correct with the distributor?

i guess thats why i cant find where it would connect to the distributor.

well i put the key in, lights come on, i try turnining it over, giving it a little gas and the pullys spin slowly and it putters a bit with a little black smoke from the exhust but thats all that happends.

and me and my buddy tripple checked the timing was right with the new belt and that the plugs are firing right along with being in order. so idk whats going on, :(
