Need engine problem figured out!!!

I currently drive a integra gsr with a jdm 98 spec type r motor that has all stock internals besides skunk2 camshafts and cam gears. I have bolt-ons such as megan racing headers, exhaust, and weaponR intake. The problem i am running into is my rpms dont pick up quick when i gun it in second and so on, it seems like the Rpms barely goes up faster than my buddies car. Also another problem is When i shift going on the ramp onto the highway sometimes the car will bogg and pick up speed again? Can someone help me out? thank you.

do you actually have it tuned to run with those mods. what skunk2 cams do you have?

Well all the other cars i had before this one i never tuned it, and they ran fine untill i had this swap put in, the guy who put it in said he also tightened all the valves and everything, and also check engine light comes on when it has poor idle or when turning on the car when its cold, when the car is cold it takes longer to crank, it would crank for at least 3 seconds then my car would turn on, but when its on the engine light comes on, when its warm after i turned it on the CEL doesnt come on.

its possible the valve lash is too tight which would hold the valves open. or the valve lash being too lose would also cause it to lose power.

If his valves are staying open, the motor would be toast.

my guess is out of time or lean as hell. try checking your plugs. id bet they are white from what u are descibing. what are the cel codes?????????????

hi gunmetal! i was talking to Dabeastwthin yesterday and he mentioned you. Well im running rich i believe due to the black smoke that comes out at high rpms but doesnt at low, and the codes dont read at all. The CEL comes on when theres bad idle, but when u turn off the car and put it into the On position, the CEL doesnt stay on, it disappears.

could u please? i live in saint louis city and i bet im not to far away from you, i had someone at advance auto parts check it when the light was on and they couldnt get any connectivity with it.
