SOHC to DOHC

Post by stephen1124 »

Okay I'm sure you've all been asked this a million times but, I'm askin again. I have a d16y5 SOCH VTECH. Is it possible to convert this into a DOCH without doing an entire motor swap given they are both 1.6L 16 valve engines? If so how do I go about doing so?

first, you'll need to remove your sohc motor/trans. next you will need to install the dohc motor/trans. thats the only way...

Well the first step is to convert that SOCH to an SOHC then we can move onto working on the DOCH swap. But the DOCH swap to DOHC swap is extremely difficult.
2008 Chevy Slobalt
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps

i might be wrong but, i think you can use the dohc zc swap but thats pretty much useless. you could make more power and be more reliable staying with the sohc. unless you want to do a whole motor and trans swap to dohc like a b, k, or h

Keep the SOHC. I recently did a DOHC to SOHC swap into my Integra Type R. I must say it was a VERY nice improvement in the powerband.

No. 1 cylinder per head = sohc.
