Idle problem

When ever my car is idling it will sometimes cut down to almost 0 and act like it will die then go way up to around 1200rpms. Also it idles hard and i can feel it vibrating my car. It's an 1997 Integra Ls. Any help?

does it go way down and then jump up to 1200 often? may be a vacuum leak
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...
