Yes...OEM S2000 Oil Filters or nothing.
SilverStreak wrote:Granted Fram makes most oil filters for Honda, the Fram filter you get from Autozone is not the same filter you get from the dealer (At least as far as 88-00 Civics are concerned). The gasket and overall exterior design and casing are different and are not what should be used on 88-00 Civics. The gasket on the Fram filters has been know to cause leaks. Theres even a thread about it on here where a member's S2000 caught fire due to an oil leak from the filter. I don't have anything bad to say about the filtration of Fram filters. People have said that they tend to fall apart after 3,000 or so miles, but thats never been proven to my knowledge. Because of the way Fram designs they're filter's gaskets is the reason why I stay away from anything they make in general. This is why I use the OEM S2000 oil filter. Its made by Filtech Inc. and uses the exact same gasket that the OEM Civic oil filter has. Its also bigger then the normal Civic filter, which helps with filtration and oil temps.

i find it funny how people are so quick to follow a bandwagon. for what it's worth..tony palo has always used fram filters and stand by them. they are just a filter and virtually all do the same job despite popular belief.
i use purolator on my hatch just because i like spending money on it and on allllll my other cars i use whatever the cheapest is...fram, stp, oreilys brand whatever it is, etc..

1. I know a guy that took his fram filter off on an oil change and it was actually coming apart inside somehow.
2. My cousin had a fram filter and when he changed the oil, the rubber seal on the filter stuck to the engine. When he installed the new filter it had a double seal and caused it to leak out all the oil and blew the engine. Sure, it's his own dumb fault for not checking that, but I've never had that problem with my Bosch filters.

that was my point with the "bandwagon" comment.
did you actually see the filter or its just what someone told you? which internal part was "coming apart"? did you cut the top off it to see if it actually was coming apart and why? and if you answered yes to any of them then also tell me how many miles were on this filter.
